Apple has released watchOS 4, featuring a “proactive” Siri watch face, personalized Activity coaching and a new music experience. The update also sports an enhanced Workout app and introduces GymKit, a technology platform that will offer customers connected workouts with cardio equipment.

StatGeek has announced Lineup and Lineup Plus for the Mac. They allow users to produce advanced basketball statistics along with statistics on 5-man groups, 2-man groups and 3-man groups in seconds.
Each program works off play-by-play data produced by any number of statistics programs, including StatGeek’s own iPad app. Lineup produces advanced statistics such as effective field goal percentage, true shooting percentage and efficiency along with five-man lineup data.

Apple has released a golden master (GM) candidate of macOS High Sierra to developers and public beta testers A golden master is a final version of software ready for release to manufacturing.
The macOS High Sierra GM can be downloaded from the Apple Developer Center or over-the-air using the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store for those in Apple’s Public Beta Testing Program. The finished version of the operating system update is due Tuesday, September 20. macOS High Sierra will run on all machines that are compatible with macOS Sierra.

Mellel word processor for macOS revved to version 4.0
Mellel has released Mellel 4.0, an upgrade of its word processor for the Mac. The new version includes over 200 new and improved features, is built from the ground up and designed “to save writers both time and frustration associated with traditional word processors.”
The folks at Mellel say version 4.0 aims to replace Microsoft Word as the preferred word processor of writers who use Macs. It enables long-form content writers to manage their writing, offers an improved way to create detailed outlines and reduces the time it takes to prepare professional-level documents.
Apple releases iTunes 12.7 for macOS
Apple has updated iTunes for macOS to version 12.7, removing the App Store items for purchasing iOS apps. It can be downloaded at the Mac App Store for free.
After you install the update, a popup window says “the new iTunes places emphasis on music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and audiobooks.” Apple notes that, if you previously used iTunes to sync apps or ringtones to your iOS device, use the new App Store or Sounds Settings on iOS to re-download them without your Mac. Version 12.7 also:

The iPhone X arrives in November
Apple has announced the iPhone X, which is modestly describes as “the future of the smartphone.” It comes in an all-glass design with a 5.8-inch “Super Retina” display, A11 Bionic chip, wireless charging and an improved rear camera with dual optical image stabilization.
The iPhone X delivers a new way for customers to unlock, authenticate and pay using Face ID, enabled by the new TrueDepth camera. The smartphone will be available for pre-order beginning Friday, Oct. 27, in more than 55 countries and territories, and in stores beginning Friday, Nov. 3.

The Apple Watch Series 3 adds cellular support
Apple has introduced Apple Watch Series 3, adding built-in cellular. It allows users to stay connected, make calls, receive texts and more, even without an iPhone nearby.
The third-generation Apple Watch boasts intelligent coaching features, water resistance to 50 meters and a new barometric altimeter that measures relative elevation. Apple Watch Series 3 comes in two models, one with GPS and cellular, and one with GPS, both featuring a 70% faster dual-core processor and new wireless chip.
Apple debuts the Apple TV 4K with HDR
Apple has introduced the Apple TV 4K with support for both 4K and High Dynamic Range (HDR. With Apple TV 4K, viewers can enjoy a growing selection of 4K HDR movies on iTunes.
In fact, iTunes users will get automatic upgrades of HD titles in their existing iTunes library to 4K HDR versions when they become available. Apple TV 4K will also offer 4K HDR content from popular video services, including Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, coming soon, says Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services.
